Hope

We stand accused of having a positive attitude. Guilty as charged. But it’s not like we’re sitting around simply hoping for good things to happen. Have you seen our site and apps lately? Fully stocked with hand-picked and personally curated events, neighborhoods, restaurants, shops & destinations.

For local HR departments & concierge staff at area hotels, CoolCleveland, it turns out, is more than they could hope for: an answer to the perennial questions, “What goes on around here?” and “I hope you have some cool neighborhoods and places to eat?”

Ingenuity has come a long way since James Levin and I kicked things off 11 years ago: I hope to see you down at their Lakefront festivities this weekend. CoolCleveland talks with e.d./curator Jacci Hammer about her hopes to Elevate fashion with a show full of fluxism, art and vintage fashion in Slavic Village. Reserve your spot now for Cleveland’s first-ever hi-end audio show on 10/9-10 at the Aloft Downtown, and hear what you’ve been missing.

Whatever you do, I hope you don’t miss some aspect of the groundbreaking Violins of Hope project. See our PHOTOSTREAM of the opening concert at the brand-new Maltz Performing Art Center at CWRU, and be sure to read our interview with Ellen Rudolph of the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage, and stop out to see these amazing Violins of Hope that have survived the Nazi concentration camps.

There’s hope in a community that’s launching a new ballet company, swapping perennials, welcoming Monsters From Space, kicking off an urban Hoedown, catching indie rockers at a rock & roll museum, celebrating a chocolate “birthaversary,” and hosting workshops on starting up a small farm, all in the same week. But mere hope isn’t enough. This place still needs your hard work and follow through. Hope to see you out & about this week. —Thomas Mulready
