Are you in the holiday spirit yet — Halloween, that is?

It’s risen in popularity in recent years to become the second biggest holiday after Christmas for shopping, cards, events and those ubiquitous haunted attractions. It’s no longer just for kids, and a lot of people don’t want to confine their celebrating and costume-wearing to a single day.

Cleveland Cinemas is giving you a chance to get in the mood all month with special screenings of weird and spooky films at its various area theaters.

Of course, midnight movie cult film The Rocky Horror Picture Show (pictured) is on the schedule. It’s showing tonight at the Apollo Theatre in Oberlin and Sat 10/31 at the Cedar Lee where it will be accompanied by a live show. Wear costumes? Bring props? But of course! When does it screen? When do you think? Midnight! The Oberlin showing is $6; the Cedar Lee is $9.50 or $6.50 if you come in costume.

Other films in the series:

Deathgasm, about a heavy metal band which accidentally summons demons, shows for one week only at the Cedar Lee starting today. Tickets are $9.50.

12 Hours of Terror is the 6th annual all-night horror movie marathon at Gordon Square’s Capitol Theatre Sat 10/17 from 8pm-8am. See the 1968 version of Night of the Living Dead, Creepshow, Pumpkinhead, The Descent, Madman, An American Werewolf in London and a surprise secret screening. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door and include a continental breakfast.

Creature From the Black Lagoon, the classic 1954 flick, will screen in 3D at the Capitol Theatre Sun 10/25 @ 10am as part of its Sunday Classics Brunch and Movie Series where you can show your stub at partnering Gordon Square restaurants after the film and get a discount. Tickets to the movie are $6.

Night of the Living Dead is widely considered to have launched the horror film genre. The George Romero 1968 zombie horror film will show at Oberlin’s Apollo Theatre (19 E. College St.) Thu 10/29 @ 10pm and Fri 10/30 @midnight. Tickets are $5.
