Ex-Akronite @Tim_Easton Comes Back Home to Play at Peninsula’s G.A.R. Hall

Akronite Tim Easton headed down to Columbus to go to school at The Ohio State University in the mid ’80s. That was also where he fell in with some bad company — garage-country band the Haynes Boys back in the mid-late ’90s when the whole alternative country thing was really picking up steam.

They released one album in 1996 before sinking into the sands of time before the century was done. (They did a reunion show in Columbus in June of this year). Easton, now based in Nashville, built himself a solo career with a seven-album catalog dipped mostly in folk and country flavors. His most recent release was 2013’s Not Cool but he’s got a new one in the pipeline called American Fork for which he’s already soliciting pre-orders and previewing on his website.

He’ll be back in northeast Ohio — and not far from Akron at that — to perform at Peninsula’s G.A.R. Hall as part of its Voices in the Valley series and probably share some of the new material. According to VITV’s description of the show, he “considers any tour that brings him to Ohio another chance to play music in his old stomping grounds and hopefully an opportunity to go fishing with his father, who still lives in Akron.”

Cleveland singer/songwriter Chris Allen opens the show. Admission is $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
