Wed 10/14 @ 7PM

Jazz violinist Reed Simon, the son of two musicians, grew up in New Jersey, where he studied classical violin. But he arrived in Cleveland nearly 40 years ago to study at the Cleveland Institute of Art, so he’s practically a native.

While at CIA, he fell in with a crowd that led him astray — into the local jazz scene. Over the years he’s performed with a range of the area’s most notable jazz players including saxophonist Hank Geer, who died in 2000, trumpeter Kenny Davis and pianist George Foley, as well as members of Duke Ellington’s band. He’s currently a member of local gypsy jazz quartet Hot Djang as well as acoustic jazz group Gene’s Jazz Hot.

When he plays at Nighttown headlining under his own name, he’ll be joined by some of his local musician friends including pianist Dan Maier (with whom he also has a duo), acoustic bassist Kevin Johnson and drummer Donnie Patterson.

Admission is $10.
