The Wanda Hunt Band has been a fixture in the Akron music scene for over 20 years. They’ve acquired many fans for their horn-driven hot mix of Motown, blues, funk and old-school R&B, blending some of their own originals into sets of tunes by timeless artists like Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner and Stevie Wonder, potently rendered by lead vocalist Hunt.

But all good things must come to an end and the Wanda Hunt Band is calling it quits, although chances are you’ll still hear Hunt around town from time to time — she’s also performed with jazz ensembles and the Akron Symphony Chorus including its popular Gospel Meets Symphony concert. And most of the band’s other seven members are in other area jazz and blues groups.

The Wanda Hunt Band will go out with a bang with a show at the Kent Stage where they’ll undoubtedly play all the fans favorites. Tickets are $10.
