VIDEO: Riding High in the Cleveland Metroparks

As they ready for a ride, Cleveland Metroparks Chief Operating Officer Joe Roszak updates CoolCleveland’s Thomas Mulready on all the latest cool projects they’ve been busy with: building mountain bike trails, collaborating with regional park systems, organizing the incredible NEOcycle urban cycling festival, and their designation as a Gold Medal Finalist for the National Recreation and Parks Association.

During the ride, Metroparks Trails Development Manager Ralph Protano shows the riders some of his team’s innovations in soil, grading and conservation as they open up two more miles of virgin mountain bike trail in Bedford Reservation, bringing the total to 25 miles of MTB trails throughout the Metroparks system.

Along for the ride were Ivan Kassovic, Operations Supervisor for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park; Jansen Wehrley, Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Medina; Rob Thompson, Communications and Membership Manager for Bike Cleveland; Nancy Desmond, Director of Special Projects at Cleveland Metroparks; Jim Rodstrom, Director of Construction at Cleveland Metroparks; Chuck Engelhart, Director of Parks East at Cleveland Metroparks; Ray Petro of Ray’s Indoor Bike Park; Trailguy Jim Olander, Trail Building Director of Cleveland Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA), and Frank Dessoffy, CAMBA member and trail advocate. Freeride!
