PHOTOSTREAM: ‘Greetings From’ Mural in Ohio City

Mon 9/14-Fri 9/18

New York-based artist Victor Ving and photographer Lisa Beggs blew into Cleveland on Mon 9/14 and began to paint a bleak brown Ohio City wall to resemble one of those colorful “Greetings From” postcards. With help from local organization Graffiti HeArt, headed by Stampy Paul, and local artists such as Loren Naji and Victor Savage, Ving painted iconic Cleveland imagery inside the letters. On Fri 9/18, the mural was “unveiled” (actually, you could stop by the corner of Chatham and W. 25th and watch the work progress all week, as we did) with speeches, free pizzas and many photos taken.

Ving and Beggs have previously done such projects in Seattle, Denver, Chicago and Beggs’ hometown Toledo, and they have become popular locations for wedding pictures, album covers and selfies. Undoubtedly Cleveland’s colorful new mural will be just as popular.
