Saul Williams is a musical, literary and cultural omnivore. Part spoken-word artist, part musician, part multi-media creator, part cultural/political commentator, he launched his career out of a hip hop-oriented performance poet scene in New York. He’s also a published poet, an actor with an MFA in acting from NYU, and an anti-war and justice activist.
He’s recently released a new album, his first in four years, titled MartyrLoserKing Written and recorded around the world — in Senegal, Reunion Island, Haiti, and New Orleans, New York, and Paris, where the New York native now lives. He’s described it as the starting point for a series of multimedia projects.
Williams has embarked on a world tour in support of his new project, which will bring him to the Kent Stage. Tickets are $17-$21.
