Cleveland drummer Tommy Amato (not to be confused with Beau Coup vocalist Tommy Amato) played in numerous area bands in the ’70s and ’80s before moving to Los Angeles in the ’80s. In the ’90s he had a scary bout with cancer during which area musicians held several benefits for him. He’s recovered and he moved back to Cleveland about four years ago, and he’s continued the events with a different beneficiary each year as a way to return the help his fellow musicians gave him. This years it’s Donna Cross Bernsdorf of That ’80s Band who is fighting ovarian cancer.

Tommy Amato Rock Relief 2015 takes place at Club Velvet at the Hard Rock Rocksino. It’ll be an “unplugged” event featuring an all-star lineup for Cleveland-area musicians. That ’80s Band will play unplugged and they’ll be joined by Steve Jochum (Wild Horses), Billy Morris (Kidd Wicked), Rich Spina (Love Affair, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, Peter Noone), Marina Strah, Georgia & the Acoustic Preachers, Robin Stone, Joey DePasquale and the Travelin’ Johnsons.

There’ll also be a rock & roll raffle, a silent auction, a Chinese raffle and door prizes. It’s a $20 donation.
