Learn About Clean Water & Enjoy Fun Activities at Sewer District @NEORSD Open House

SewerDistrict

Sat 9/19 @ 9AM-4PM

In this country we take for granted having unlimited clean water at the turn of a faucet. But we seldom think about how this is accomplished. So the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) is having an all-day open house at its Environmental and Maintenance Services Center to educate people about the work it does and introduce them to area agencies, nonprofits and organizations working on sustainability issues.

You can tour the Southerly wastewater treatment plant and learn about the various departments and initiatives of NEORSD, from wonky behind-the-scenes things like finance to more public campaigns like PUP — Pick Up Poop — which encourages people to clean up after their dogs.

More than two dozen other organizations, from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District to the Girl Scouts to the Cleveland Engineering Society to the Collinwood Painted Rain Barrel Project will be there, along with museums like the Great Lakes Science Center, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and the Greater Cleveland Aquarium.

You’ll want to bring the kids too because there’ll be fun stuff for them to see and do: Jungle Terry, Balloon Bender Dave, Wally Waterdrop, crafts, free popcorn and ice cream from Mitchell’s. Will there be face painting? the kids are demanding to know.

Yes.

The event is free.
