Harvest Festival Invites Visitors to Explore @CWRU Farm

Sat 9/19 @ 1-6PM

Did you know that Case Western Reserve University had a working farm? Most people don’t. Squire Valleevue Farm is located in Hunting Valley where it engages in agricultural research and grows — sustainably and organically — some of the food served at the university.

Its Farm Harvest Fest, now in its fourth year, provides both students and the community with the opportunity to explore what’s going on out there and just have some fun out in the country, a special treat for city-bound students who will be able to ride buses out there from campus.

There’ll be all sorts of things to do, including going on hayrides, making smores over bonfires, playing cornhole, walking a tall-grass maze and checking out cooking, weaving and wood-carving demonstrations. You’ll also be able to tour the various greenhouses and cultivation areas, and see how vegetables, herbs and mushrooms are grown. There’ll be a live music stage and a yoga class as well.

The festival is free, but you can enjoy a lunch of vegetarian chili, apples, apple cider, ice cream, and fresh salads made with produce grown on the farm for $5.
