Up From The Underground

We seem to be in the middle of a surge, with everything around us rising up. When it comes to helping things along, bringing interesting things from the margins to the mainstream, from the dimly lit shadows to the spotlight, from the back row to center stage, well, that’s CoolCleveland’s job.

When the Land Conservancy started planning their oh-so-affordable benefit, they couldn’t have surfaced at a more appropriate venue than Rustbelt Reclamation. Jack’s Deli in S. Euclid is the location for a new short, On a Technicality, screening at the Maltz this week. Burning River Fest helps lift Wendy Park, Whiskey Island and a slew of environmental efforts. Les Roberts signs his new story, The Ashtabula Hat Trick. We have stories on all these, and more. And a killer website and mobile apps that will put everything at your fingertips.

With free tomato tasting at the market, Ernie sitting in down in Akron, the Beat Uptown hosting their finale, bocce balls rolling in Wickliffe, Celtic kilts and bagpipes screaming at Geneva-on-the-Lake, film cameras making a comeback, and Highland Square’s Porch Rockr turning 4, yes, it’s obvious we’re coming up. But how far we come, well, that’s up to you. –Thomas Mulready
