Three New Shows Open @SpacesGallery

Spaces

Fri 8/21 @ 6-9PM

August is the doldrums for art galleries, not a time when you normally open new shows. But SPACES Gallery has never followed the rules. It’s opening a group of three new shows this month that tell stories and explore issues in unexpected ways.

Risa Puno’s Exhaust uses a sense not normally incorporated into art projects — smell — to explore the factors that influence global energy production and energy production’s influence on culture, economies and the environment.

Cleveland Heights resident Elena Harvey Collins curated Deeper Structures, a show of four artists from Columbus, Los Angeles and England who experiment with narrative structure. And SWAP artist Ward Shelley offers The Last Library, a collection of unwritten books, assembled through community contributions.

The opening reception is free.
