Wednesday at BluJazz Akron is solo piano night, giving some of the best jazz keyboard artists in the area the opportunity to showcase their skills. This week, the club turns the piano over to one of northeast Ohio’s most prominent, versatile and ubiquitous players, Jackie Warren. She performs on her own at many local venues, as well as with her jazz trio. She’s also known for her mastery of Latin jazz, which she plays with Sammy DeLeon y Su Orquestra. She’s also played alongside an impressive array of national performers.
And when she’s not busy playing, she teaches at Tri-C’s noted jazz program and at the Music Settlement. The Wednesday night gig is a casual one for player and listener, so you might hear any of the wide range of music at her command. It’s a great chance to check out Akron’s premiere jazz room too.
