On a perfect, sunny August day, Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell, who said she’d come to town early to do some hiking in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, joined local officials including Mayor Frank Jackson, to dedicate the Centennial Trail Lake Link of the Canalway Trail. Jewell highlighted what has been accomplished through the Land and Water Conservation Fund, first passed in 1964 and set to expire this year without action from Congress.
The freighter Buffalo made its way down the Cuyahoga toward the lake as the speakers took the podium, adding to the ambiance. Following the speeches, hikers and bicyclists headed over to explore the trail which affords some spectacular views of the city.
