Hillbilly Idol & Friends Pay Tribute to Hank Williams @MusicBoxCle

Hank Williams

Sat 9/5 @ 8PM

Country singer Hank Williams died in 1953 at the age of 29. But his legacy — and the dozens of songs he wrote that have become standards, not just in country music but in music in general — has made him one of the most influential figures in popular music.

He would have been 92 on September 17 — not that his poor health and careless lifestyle made him a candidate for such longevity — so once again, northeast Ohio country band Hillbilly Idol and some of their friends are celebrating his birthday with the second annual Hank Williams Birthday Bash at the Music Box Supper Club.

They’ll be joined by guests like Don Dixon, Meredith Rutledge and Cats on Holiday’s Denis DeVito to perform some of those indelible hit tunes like “Cold Cold Heart,” “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” “Your Cheatin’ Heart” and Hey Good Lookin’.”

It’s a “Lucky 7” show, which means that $7 gets you admission and the signature cocktail of the night. Doors open at 6 for dinner.
