Dave Hammer’s Power Supply have been rocking Akron for around six years now, making waves with their blues and prog rock-influenced music. The power trio — featuring vocalist/guitarist Dave Hammer, bassist Matt DeRubertis and drummer Chris Baker — make music with an intensity and density that belies their small number.
The group is about to release their fourth “and what maybe be our final” album, they’ve posted. Titled Wagon, it includes artwork by seven local artists, one for each of the album’s tracks. That artwork will be on display at the band’s album release show at Jilly’s Music room, and prints will be available for purchase, along with the album, of course. They’re even suggesting this might be their last show as DHPS, whatever that means. So if you’ve ever wanted to hear them, go.
The evening is actually a dual album release party. Akron’s Acid Cats, who play (appropriately) acid jazz/rock, are dropping a new effort called All in a Day’s Work. They’ll open the show.
There’s no cover, so you can afford to buy both albums.
