The Cleveland World Festival, now in its third year, is a riot of cultures, not clashing but complementing each other. Dancers, musicians, artists, martial arts practitioners and theater groups present offerings from all over the world. Food, sports, games and a kids’ village make this event, taking place appropriately at the Cleveland Cultural Gardens in Rockefeller Park, a fun — and educational — day out. Sun 8/2.
When the Ohio Burlesque Festival started in 2011, the whole burlesque revival was just starting to gain steam locally. Now it’s one of the national burlesque circuit’s preeminent events. It features 70 entertainers from across the country over the course of three days at the Beachland Ballroom — and afterparties too! Thu 7/30-Sat 8/1.

When Local Food Mondays started in 2008, Cleveland’s local food/urban farming movement was in its infancy, and the monthly events served to bring advocates together to spread the word and bring others on board. The group that organized them dissolved in 2011 so they stopped. But the movement these events fueled exploded in their absence and now they’re back to take it to the next level.
