Delbert McClinton is one of those talented also-rans who’s been kicking around the fringes of the music scene for over 50 years, occasionally having a brush with success — a minor hit here, a song that takes off for another artist there — but never quite breaking through.
Still, the blues-grounded rock songwriter/singer/guitarist has amassed a lengthy catalog since releasing his first album in the ’70s. He wrote an Emmylou Harris hit and earned a Grammy for a duet with Bonnie Raitt. His latest album is 2013’s Blind, Crippled and Crazy. And he’ll be performing at Wilbert’s with Joe Firstman, former bandleader on Last Call With Carson Daly, opening.
