PHOTOSTREAM: Opera in the Italian Cultural Garden

Sun 7/26

Thousands of listeners and picnickers turned out for what has become a beloved tradition: a free concert of popular arias from (mostly) Italian operas, performed by the outstanding singers from Opera Circle Cleveland in the beautiful setting of the Italian Cultural Garden.

As the crowd munched on cheese, bread, olives and other delectable and sipped on wine, the singers dazzled the crowd with selections from Verdi, Puccini, Donizetti — and even a little Mozart (the non-Italian). A few Italian traditional tunes were also on the program, along with, of course, one of the best-known of arias, “Nessum Dorma,” from Puccini’s Turandot.
