Devotees of Cast Iron Cookware Gather @CoitFarmMarket

Sat 7/18 @ noon

Many cooks — both home cooks and professionals — swear by old-fashioned cast iron cookware for its superior heat retention properties. And despite the market takeoff by aluminum non-stick pots and pans, cast iron has its devoted cult.

Believe it or not, they have an organization, at least an informal one. They call themselves the Ohio Regional Cast Iron Enthusiasts. And they’ll be gathering at the Coit Road Farmers Market for their annual get-together to trade tips on cooking with and care of cast iron, buy and sell cookware and just hang out, eat, drink and socialize.

It starts at noon, an hour before the market closes and is scheduled to last until 6. “From past experience I expect the party will last much longer than that,” says market manager Kevin Scheuring.

All are welcome!
