Singer/songwriter Kimm Rogers has traveled a lot of miles since leaving Cleveland. She moved to the Los Angeles area in as a child and later went to Nashville to try the music scene there without much success. Returning to the West Coast, she signed to Island Records and released two albums in the early ’90s, then headed for Idaho after the big quake of 1994 and being dropped by her label.

After that she meandered around, doing a variety of non-music things and casual music projects. She eventually landed back in California in San Diego, where she recorded her first album in more than two decades, titled Where the Pavement Grows. Its tunes make the leap from earnest, intimate folk to full-throttle rock and roll, with her raw, quivering voice doing justice to both.

Now she’s coming home to share it with northeast Ohio music fans at Jilly’s Music Room in Akron where she’ll do some songs by herself and some accompanied by an old friend, guitarist Marc Lee Shannon of Michael Stanley and the Resonators. Also on the bill: Cleveland singer/songwriter/ guitarist Diana Chittester and Akron gypsy rockers the Angie Haze Project.

There’s no cover.
