King Chip (real name: Charles Worth) has been around the area’s hip hop scene for nearly a decade, although many people might remember him under his earlier stage name Chip tha Ripper. In that time, he’s cranked out a flood of mixtapes and collaborated with a large cast of other rappers and vocalists, including members of Cleveland’s most successful rappers Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.
His friendship with another successful Cleveland hip hop act, Kid Cudi, earned King Chip greater exposure that he used as a springboard to other opportunities including work with Kids in the Hall. He appeared on Cudi’s 2013 album Indicud, and put out his own mixtae 44108 (the zip code of Cleveland’s Glenville neighborhood) last year.
He’ll be back at his old stomping grounds, the Agora, in the midst of what he’s calling “The Royal Tour.” Tickets are $17 in advance, $22 at the door.
