The Star-Spangled Spectacular @CleveOrchestra Moves to Mall B

Wed 7/1 @ 9PM

Look for something a little different this year when the Cleveland Orchestra returns downtown for its annual Star Spangled Spectacular.

With Public Square torn up for construction, the event moves over to Mall B. But while the setting may be unfamiliar, the program won’t be. It’ll be the usual mélange of pop and patriotic favorites by American composers like George Gershwin John Williams, Lerner & Loewe, Morton Gould and Aaron Copland. There’ll be an Armed Forces Salute and America the Beautiful.

But you ask — is there going to be something by a Russian composer? Oh, that — yes, of course. You don’t think it’s legal to have a July 4th concert without Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, do you? They’ll conclude with that, and fireworks, weather permitting.

Thomas Wilkins conducts and baritone Nathan Gunn sings.

The concert is free, as always.
