Everything about Minnesota folk/blues singer/guitarist/banjo player Charlie Parr reeks of the past. He could have stepped out of the ’30s, with his low-tech, homespun approach to music and the image of the scrappy, Depression-era troubadour, a sonic and visual presentation utterly without gloss. With influences like Woody Guthrie, Son House, Leadbelly, the Reverend Gary Davis and Charley Patton, you know this isn’t the sort of music you’ll find playing on your local pop radio station back-to-back with Taylor Swift. His latest album, Stumpjumper, just came out on folk label Red House in April, just the latest in a stream of albums and singles this prolific artist has released since 1999.

He’ll be playing at the Beachland Tavern with New York Americana duo the Grahams and northeast Ohio’s own Roger Hoover opening. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door.
