Come one, come all to the 2015 Ohio City Games. Yoga, soccer challenges, races, tug-of-war, a firefighter obstacle-course, art and maker challenges, theater games, ice cream and superheroes are waiting for you at this free, family-friendly field day. Spectators and participants are welcome to come out, enjoy the festivites and watch in the stands or participate on the field.

“The Ohio City Games arose as an idea with some Ohio City Merchants, but did not catch ground until I decided to make it happen with a few other hardworking locals and the support of St. Ignatius High School,” says Theresa Gorski, founder and board leader of the Ohio City Games and Ohio City resident. “As the owner of Vision Yoga & Wellness in Ohio City, our mission is focused on building and sustaining a healthy and happy community. The Ohio City Games is an opportunity to spread joy, join in together for a free, family-friendly day at St. Ignatius’s Wasmer Field. With games and activities sponsored by local businesses and nonprofits, having local volunteers and even the Cleveland Fire Department getting involved with an obstacle course, we couldn’t be more excited for year two of the annual Games.”

Last year about 100 people participated, but this year a much bigger crowd and participation is anticipated.

“We have T-shirts for the first 300 kids, and will close out at 500 kids,” says Theresa. “Families can participate as a team for some events and challenge another team for tug-of-war and many of the races. Yoga, an obstacle course and the soccer challenge are great fun for kids to individually give their best. The games are free to Clevelanders, but there is a suggested donation of $5 per child for those living outside of Cleveland.”

Kenny Crumpton is back as the event host and will be wearing a superhero cape, along with all volunteer leaders, so  join in the fun and wear your favorite superhero costume too! A group of special superheroes will make an appearance around mid-day to the festivities for photo-ops and fun. Kids will also have the opportunity to earn badges for good deeds during the Games — things like sharing, kindness, good sportsmanship, helping others, etc. to keep the superhero theme alive.

“The Ohio City Games are meant for kids and families of Cleveland but we do not discriminate,” says Theresa. “Games and T-shirts will be geared for kids 4-12. All ages are welcome. Parents will need to sign a release waiver and get a wristband before entry. Families are welcome to bring a packed lunch and eat in the quad and come and go as they please. There is no need to sign up for individual events. Other than kids yoga at 10:30AM and the ice cream dance party social at 1PM, all activites are ongoing.”

Pre-register for the Games HERE and sign the release waiver to ensure your entry and tee shirt. Only the first 300 will receive shirts. There will be an ice cream dance party, sponsored by Mitchell’s Ice Cream, to finish the games. All are welcome.

The Games are happening rain or shine. However if there is torrential pour, the event will be forced to cancel. There is no rain date.

To be a superhero volunteer, sign up HERE. An after party for the volunteers will be at Town Hall Saturday 4-6PM.
