Heavy Trio Failure Evokes the ’90s @GrogShop

Failure

Sun 7/5 @ 8:30PM

If you were hanging around the Euclid Tavern and the old Grog Shop in the ’90s, Los Angeles trio Failure was kind of a big deal to you. Active during the peak of that era’s heavy underground scene, the band released their debut Comfort in 1992, followed by Magnified in 1994 and Fantastic Planet in 1996, three stellar examples of their aggressive, expansive yet well-structured sound. The following year, they broke up.

They reunited in 2014 – doesn’t everyone eventually? — and released The Heart Is a Monster last week. Now they’re hitting the road again with a show at the NEW Grog Shop, the one with cleaner bathrooms and great air conditioning — with L.A.’s Queen Kwong opening.

Tickets are $22.50 in advance, $25 at the door.
