Celebrate July 4th Eve @GrogShop with Local Folk Rockers

OldBoy

Fri 7/3 @ 9PM

A holiday eve is always a good time to go out and stay out late since you can sleep in tomorrow. And it’s a great time to catch a low-key show featuring a bunch of local bands you may have been meaning to check out but haven’t gotten around to.

The Grog Shop can help you out here, with a show featuring a lineup of locals with differing but complementary styles.

Folk rockers Oldboy (pictured) have been picking up steam in the last couple of years with the introspective music, penned mostly by vocalist/guitarist Shawn Brewster. Since Acquiring the services of cellist Shelby Sangdahl last year, the band has acquired a new dimension, emphasizing its moody quality.

Texas Plant calls themselves “folk punk,” and the new-on-the-scene group rocks hard as it produces music with an expansive Americana feel. Singer-songwriter Tom Evanchuck’s music has a timeless vibe underpinned by influences from classic blues, rock and folk sources, including Bob Dylan, Leadbelly and Neil Young. Ken Pengal is also on the bill.

Admission is $6 in advance, $8 at the door.
