Bands Compete at Werkout Competition @BeachlandCle to Play Werk Out Music Festival

Werks

Thu 7/2 @ 8PM

Like many jam bands, the Werks (pictured), out of Dayton, host an annual festival called the Werk Out Music and Arts Festival, taking place 8/6-8 at the Legend Valley Music Center in central Ohio.

Like all such festivals put together by hard-touring jam bands, they’ve tapped some of the other regionally popular bands they’ve been on bills with in this friendly scene — bands like Umphrey’s McGee, Papadosio, Dopapod and Cincinnati jamgrass band the Rumpke Mountain Boys. A couple of the top names in the northeast Ohio jam scene are also on the bill — jamtronica favorites Broccoli Samurai and funk/reggae/hip hop hybrid Tropidelic.

One more band from this area has a shot at a slot of the Werk Out Fest. Five jam-friendly bands will compete at the Beachland Ballroom — and fans who attend the show will have a chance to vote for which it should be. So you know the Mucklebuck, Essential Groove, the Bitshifterz, Hazard Adams and Gnosis (actually from Erie, Pa) will be trying to pack their fans in that night.

Admission is $10.
