Concert Pays Tribute to Anne Frank & Cleveland Holocaust Survivor Betty Gold

Annelies

Sun 5/31 @ 4PM

The Choral Arts Society of Cleveland presents what is sure to be an emotional program. Titled Annelies: A Chorale Setting of The Diary of Anne Frank, the concert, which features Virginia-based soprano Arianna Zukerman (daughter of the world-renowned violinist Pinchas Zukerman), honors both the “one who perished” (Frank) and the “one who survived,” Cleveland Holocaust survivor Betty Gold who passed away last year at the age of 83.

Frank’s story is internationally known. Gold’s is less familiar although Clevelanders often had the chance to hear it from this outspoken woman whose family was driven out of their village by the Nazis in 1942; she came to Cleveland in 1946 as a 16-year-old. She frequently shared her story with groups of all types.

A portion of the proceeds from patron sponsorship of the concert will go to the Betty Gold Education Fund at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage where Gold was a docent.

Martin Kessler conducts the concert at Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple. A pre-concert talk takes place at 3pm.

It’s free, although reserved seats can be purchased for $18.
