CityMusic Cleveland Performs to Help Homeless Children

CityMusic

Thu 5/28 @ 8PM

Fri 5/29 @ 8PM

In its 11 years, CityMusic Cleveland has done remarkable work in bringing high-quality classical music concerts into northeast Ohio neighborhoods, so that people who might otherwise not be able to attend sure concerts can hear them in their own backyards — for free.

In the process of doing that, the group has become aware of the situation of homeless children, both in Cleveland and around the world, and wants to make others aware too. So the group is putting on two concerts called Wishes and Dreams, A Homeless Children Project.

For those evenings, it will be bringing in Broadway star Heather Headley (The Lion King, Aida) to join the CityMusic Cleveland Chamber Orchestra, conducted by its music director Avner Dorman. She’ll sing a program of songs titled Spices, Perfumes, Toxins!.

It takes place at the Cleveland Masonic Auditorium. Tickets are $20-$100.

The concerts are part of a “Super Conference on Homeless Children and Youth” in partnership with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and Bellefaire JCB, also taking place at the Masonic Auditorium. It will feature speakers from various social services and education organizations, as well as Anne de Mare, the director of the youth homeless movie, The Homestretch.
