Italian guitarist Aniello Desiderio’s performance for the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society was cancelled. But the show must go on.
Instead, they booked rising young Russian guitar star Vladimir Gorbach to play the final concert of the season at Shaker Heights’ Plymouth Church UCC.
Gorbach has just been coming into his own in the last five or six years, winning the 2011 Guitar Foundation of America competition, as well as prizes in a batch of European contests, and making his Carnegie Hall debut in 2013. He’s now in California teaching part-time at California State University while earning his doctorate from the University of Southern California’s elite Thornton School of Music.
Tickets are $20, $15 for seniors and $10 for students. Tickets purchased for the Desiderio concert will be honored.
