Virginia’s Pat McGee Band went from independent status to a brief and moderately successful major label flirtation and back to independent status again. So founder/singer/songwriter/guitarist Pat McGee has been around the block. He opted to fund his latest, self-titled solo album through a Kickstarter campaign and he got some of the greatest of the music business to back him including legendary L.A. session players guitarists Waddy Wachtel and Danny Kortchmar, bassist Leland Sklar and drummer Russ Kunkel to give his album a classic ’70s feel.
When he comes to the Music Box Supper Club to celebrate his new release, his opening act will be widely respected if not wildly successful songwriter Freedy Johnston, known for pop tunes with a melancholy edge. He’s also got a relatively new album last year’s Neon Repairman.
Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
