Pianist/vocalist Diane Schuur has been performing since she was a teenager, and has been one of the top names in jazz virtually since she released her debut album Deedles (her nickname) in 1984. Since then she’s performed and recorded with everyone from B.B. King to the Count Basie Orchestra to the Caribbean Jazz Project, demonstrating her versatility and command of a wide range of material ranging from the contemporary to classics from the Great American Songbook.
Her latest album I Remember You (With Love to Stan and Frank) features songs recorded by Stan Getz and Frank Sinatra, two of her key influences and mentors. It includes crowdpleasers like “S’Wonderful,” “Nice ‘n’ Easy,” “The Second Time Around” and “I’ve Got You Under My Skin.”
Schuur’s durable appeal over her 35-year-career is demonstrated by the fact that she’s performing for three nights at Nighttown. Tickets are $40.
