Help Build Furniture for @ClevelandFlea @Kickstarter

Flea

The Cleveland Flea started modestly in the parking lot of Sterle’s back in early 2013. It’s grown into a monster that attracts tens of thousands of people to its new, larger space at Tyler Village where they can browse over 130 vendors selling locally produced food and drink, handmade artisan and artist items, and a fun assortment of vintage and collectible items. Founder Stephanie Sheldon has built the event up step by step to being one of the coolest ways you can spend the second Saturday of each month.

Now she wants to take it another step, building what she calls a “real home” for the Flea. That means tables, benches, stools and other items to provide a comfortable setting for those monthly mobs of shoppers. And she’s launched a Kickstarter campaign to pay for it.

As with everything about the Flea, this project is all about tapping into local talent. The furniture has been designed by 2nd Shift Design Studio in AsiaTown. It will be constructed by Soulcraft Woodshop in Ohio City. If the Kickstarter campaign is successful, the new furniture should pop up at Tyler Village in June or July.

Sheldon is one local entrepreneur who has demonstrated she can pull off a big idea. She’s definitely worthy of a little investment.
