Few countries have as extensive and glorious musical tradition, both classical and popular, as Italy. From grand opera to folk music to florid, sentimental pop, the country is a brimming cornucopia of melody.
Those irresistible melodies will be filling the far reaches of Severance Hall when the Cleveland Pops Orchestra presents its next program La Musica D’Italia. The concert will draw on all of it: the well-known areas, the movie themes, the beloved Neopolitan ballads, pop songs and Broadway tunes.
The group’s founder and music director Carl Topilow will conduct the program, which also features soprano Sarah Jane McMahon, tenor Ryan McPherson and the Cleveland POPS Chorus directed by William Zurkey.
