In one astonishing burst of creativity in the late ’60s, songwriter Jim Webb (now known as Jimmy Webb, perhaps to distinguish him from the Virginia politician) cranked out a flood of the era’s best-known charttoppers for artists like Glen Campbell, the 5th Dimension, Johnny Rivers and Richard Harris.
Although he is best known as a songwriter, Webb has made his own albums — 12 of them, including 2013’s Still Within the Sound of My Voice, which paired him with guest performers like Carly Simon, Joe Cocker, David Crosby and Graham Nash, Brian Wilson and Kris Kristofferson on an anthology of Webb tunes.
You can hear Webb himself perform them at the Music Box Supper Club. Cleveland blues/rock singer/songwriter/ guitarist/trumpeter Kristine Jackson will open.
