The Kings/Queens of the Iron Mic shows have been going on for over a decade, primarily at the Grog Shop in Cleveland Heights, showcasing hip hop and hip hop-influenced local artists, each of whom gets a brief moment on stage to throw down and impress the crowd.
The Queens of the Iron Mic events are special because they put the spotlight on the ladies — and sometimes with all the male voices dominating the genre, the ladies can be hard to heard.
The latest edition, Queens of the Iron Mic 2015, moves across town to Now That’s Class, to share this wealth of talent with west siders. It will feature some familiar faces/voices past events as well as new ones, including Ngina Fayola (who like many of the ladies is both a gifted rapper and soulful singer), Indicca Spitts (pictured), Aaqila, Azizzah Divine, Poison I.V., Rain the Quiet Storm, Brea Jordai, Bdotlee, Kisha Nicole Smith, Summa and J. Gig Ciero.
Music for this packed line-up will be provided by DJ Coco-Z, the Mix Mistress. Your usual hostess, promoter Mexie Wilson, will be doing the intros.
