Sun 3/22 @ 2PM

The Squirrel Hillbillies are the unpretentious acoustic duo of vocalist/ukulele player Jenny Balsk Bain and guitarist/vocalist Gary Crouth, two versatile Pittsburghers who play folk, country and blues. Both late-in-life musicians who grew up in the ’50s and ’60s, he had a rural background and a career in hazardous waste management; she’s New York City-bred with extensive background in performing since she was young.

With the Squirrel Hillbillies they engage in what they call “a collaborative, nonlinear songwriting process” to spin original tunes out of their own extensive experiences and those of others they know or have heard about. They’ve recorded a pair of albums of that material, 2012’s Squirrel Hillbillies and last year’s Goody Two Shoes.

They’re headed west to perform a show at the Lakewood Public Library’s main branch auditorium. It’s free.
