Michigan’s Bishop/Cleaver/Flood Trio Performs @BopStopTMS

AndrewBishop

Tue 4/7 @ 7PM

The Bishop/Cleaver/Flood Trio features three talented jazz musicians from the Detroit area who have been working together for almost two decades, in between the various other projects that pack their busy schedules.

Led by sax/flute/clarinet player Andrew Bishop, who is an associate professor of jazz & contemporary improvisation at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, they released Time & Imaginary Time as a trio in 2005 and worked together on Bishop’s Hank Williams Project album in 2006.

They have just released a new trio album De Profundis, which showcases both Bishop’s compositional skills and the ability of all three players — including bassist Tim Flood and drummer Gerald Cleaver, both University of Michigan graduates who have participated in a wide variety of ensembles and projects — to work together to improvise on those pieces.

They’ll perform at the Bop Stop to celebrate the release of the new album. Admission is $10.
