David Mayfield comes from a talented family. He got his start playing bass in his family’s bluegrass band — and his parents are still out there, performing as a duo.

But he and his sister Jessica Lea have both struck out on their own and made a strong impact on the indie/Americana scene, starting with Jessica who started making her own records while still in her teens. David played with her band for a while, then joined Nashville folkgrass band Cadillac Sky.

Eventually he started his own bluegrass-influenced alternative country project, the David Mayfield Parade, which is pretty much him and whatever musical friends he rounds up for a particular project or tour.

His latest album, Strangers, was released last fall, and he’s on the road again with a local date at the Beachland Tavern. There he’ll perform with JP & the Chatfield Boys and Demos Papadimas opening.

Tickets are $12 in advance, $14 at the door.
