There’s a new concert series in town you may not have heard about. Since December, when it presented a sold-out show with Columbus’ Red Wanting Blue, Cleveland-base Elevation Group has been presenting it Cathedral Concerts series at the historic Trinity Cathedral in the Cleveland State University campus district.

It’s also presented Glen Hansard (also a sold-out show), and has shows booked with Bruce Hornsby, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Marc Cohn — contemplative, listening-type shows enhanced by the atmosphere of the cathedral with its soaring arches and stained glass windows.

Tonight it’s offering ’80s synth pop icon Howard Jones, known for a string of catchy, upbeat hit tunes such as “Things Can Only Get Better,” “Like to Get to Know You Well,” “No One Is to Blame” and “What Is Love?”

And, in keeping with Jones’ long-time concern for animals, part of the proceeds of the concert will benefit Euclid-based PetFix, which provides low cost neutering and spaying for individuals, rescue groups, shelter and feral caretakers to reduce the population of homeless cats and dogs.

Tickets are $45.
