Detroit-based Jessica Hernandez & the Deltas are a relatively new band, with their debut album Secret Evil released just last year. But the group is already starting to make a splash, with an appearance on Late Night With David Letterman under their belts and an upcoming European tour with Social Distortion on their calendar.
There’s a good reason for the attention. Hernandez has an old-fashioned R&B belter, backed by the accomplished wide-screen soul-rock of her band. She’s tough, relentless and sensuous, and when she sings “Sorry I Stole Your Man,” she doesn’t sound like she’s sorry at all.
Before they take off for Europe, Jessica Hernandez & the Delta will perform at Musica in Akron. Embleton opens.
