It’s always beer season in Cleveland, and there’s a new Beer Dinner Series this season being hosted by the Cleveland Metroparks that’s getting a lot of attention. After two very successful dinners, the third beer dinner will be Monday, March 23rd, featuring local brewery Brick and Barrel. This four-course, beer and food filled affair will take place at the Cleveland Metroparks’ very own restaurant, Merwin’s Wharf (1785 Merwin Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44113) located in Cleveland’s industrial Flats neighborhood just off of Columbus.

“We wanted to show off the culinary talents of our chefs, executive chef and sous chef by doing some different higher-end, unique dinners that people may not realize we are capable of providing. And, we also wanted to support and feature some of our area local vendors,” says Sue Allen, Director of Communications for the Cleveland Metroparks.

“The local beer scene is huge. Our taps at the restaurant are often completely filled with local craft beer selections from Cleveland and throughout Ohio. We wanted to capitalize on the popularity of these beverages and pair four courses with four beverages from each of the local breweries.”

The Merwin’s Wharf restaurant is a historical treasure right off the Cuyahoga River — it’s prime real estate near the shores of our crooked riverbank. And there’s a lot of activity down on the shores with the Rowing Club, the Ohio Bike Club, the seaport and more. It’s the perfect spot for people to pop in or sit on the beautiful outdoor patio, have some food, grab a drink and look at all the river activity the Cuyahoga has to offer.

“There’s nothing better than seeing one of the barges coming down the river. When that happens, people literally get up out of their seats to look at these barges and take pictures,” Sue shared excitedly. “Really, there are so many unique aspects. It’s really more than just a great restaurant…it’s a great stop to learn a little bit more about the river, the history of the flats and have something to eat and have a beverage all in one stop.”

Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres from 6 -7PM, with the first course being served promptly at 7PM. Cost is $50 per person. Ages 21 and over only. Call 216-664-5696 to purchase tickets or click here before the event sells out. The last one did!

Sue continues, “Anyone who enjoys a good local craft beer selection and wants to learn more about it should come. There’s a representative from each brewery to talk about each of their beers. There’s a lot of enthusiasts who are exciting about finding new business and pairing food and beer.”
