Adventurous Vocal Group @RoomfulOfTeeth Performs @ClevelandArt Museum

RoomfulOfTeeth

Fri 3/20 @ 7:30PM

Roomful of Teeth isn’t your usual singing group. Rather, the nearly six-year-old ensemble explores the far reaches of the human voice, studying and deploying singing techniques such as yodeling, Tuvan and Inuit throat singing, Korean p’ansori and more. It then commissions to composers to create work for their unusual hybrid style.

The group’s self-titled 2012 debut was nominated for three Grammys and won one in the Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance. And that year, ensemble member Caroline Shaw Caroline Shaw won the Pulitzer Prize in Music for Partita for 8 Voices, which appears on that album.

Roomful of Teeth will perform at the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Gartner Auditorium. Tickets are $33-$45.
