Nighttown Celebrates its 50th Anniversary

Nighttown

Thu 2/6@ 8:30PM

It’s hard to believe but Nighttown, the sprawling but cozy Irish-themed restaurant in Cleveland Heights, has been around 50 years. It was long a popular neighborhood place for hearty comfort food but in the ’90s it also morphed into the area’s premier jazz venue.

It’s kicking off its celebration year with an all-star Cleveland jazz lineup Thu 2/5 featuring a huge lineup of local performers who have been regulars on its stage. That’s sold out, alas.

But of course the next night — and the next and the next — they’ll have more great local jazz artists performing. Fri 2/6 the Howie Smith/David Thomas/Bob Ferrazza/Ray Porrello All-Star Organ Quartet, with Thomas on organ, Smith on sax, Ferrazza on guitar, and Porrello on drums, will perform an evening that will range from soul, jazz and pop standards to originals written by the members of the ensemble.

Tickets are $15.

There will be many more chances to come to Nighttown to hear topnotch local and international jazz performers all year long.
