Before diving into the inspiration behind the event, tell us more about yourself and designs.

“My name is Dru Thompson, owner and designer of Dru Christine Fabrics & Design, located at 15615 Waterloo Road in Cleveland’s Waterloo Arts & Entertainment District.  As a fashion designer, I have always been interested in all art genres for different forms of inspiration.  My shop has become a breeding ground for creativity; as a design studio, servicing my custom clientele, to carrying a line of vintage fabrics and contemporary textiles, that inspire other designers and clients to housing accessory lines and artwork from local artists.” In the press release, it is described that music not only has strong ties to fashion and art, but often times inspires it. What inspired you to explore that connection through Bob Marley? “Fashion Designers, like other artists, absorb inspiration from everywhere.  My inspiration changes, based on my mood, life experiences and my surroundings.  I’m a lover of all music, especially reggae and this collection in particular, speaks to that inspiration through color, textures and fabrics.  Bob Marley, reggae music as a whole and was the perfect foundation for this event, my collection, the artists and performers alike.” That is a fun, yet poignant concept. How did you take event from idea to fruition? “I actually had the idea for this event swirling around in my head for a while! As an entrepreneur, I am always looking for ways to collaborate with other artists and business owners and The Mixed Media event was a great opportunity.   What makes this event truly unique is that this showcase gives me, as well as the other artists involved, the opportunity to come together to create art inspired by Bob Marley’s legacy.  Hence, the subtitle “Legendary”.  What better way to celebrate the icons 70th birthday?

Loving what you hear? Admission for this event is $10, with advance tickets available online, via  Eventbrite. Also make sure to check out Dru’s blog.
