This week Ukrainian/Israeli violinist Vadim Gluzman visits the Cleveland Orchestra to play two performances Sergei Prokofiev’s Second Violin Concerto in which Russian folk themes and hints of a Spanish influence mingle.
In addition, Finnish conductor Hannu Lintu will lead the orchestra in Tchaikovsky’s familiar Symphony No. 5 (it provided the basic melody for John Denver’s “Annie’s Song”) and Sibelius’ Pohjola’s Daughter.
On Friday morning, the Orchestra will appear on its own to perform the Tchaikovsky and Sibelius pieces.
Tickets range from $29-$162.
