SHOCKWAVES will mesmerize you. Cleveland media artist Kasumi used 25,000 public domain film samples to create a “darkly madcap” exploration of memory and our collective consciousness. Go on a hallucinatory trip into a man’s subconscious mind before his death; it’s a carnival ride of traumatic memories and alternative realities. The film will be shown on loop for two days @ Transformer Station.

The Bidwells and Transformer Station represent a long-needed breakthrough in the imaginations of art lovers — the meaningful recognition of the immense talent in Cleveland’s contemporary art scene. And no one more exemplifies that talent, talent that can hold its own anywhere in the world, than Kasumi, who has transformed sound, moving pictures, and the gestural essence of communication into works of a sort there’s not yet even a name for. “Cinematic Assemblage” might be the right term, but until you’ve seen it you can’t imagine what it is.
