Cleveland singer/songwriter Megan Elk has performed a startling act of transformation. In the last couple of years, she’s remade herself as Miss Alexandra Huntingdon, a striking, theatrical and often melodramatic cabaret singer with a big voice and even bigger emotions.

She’s been taking local clubs and festival by storm, tearing her heart open while rendering her repertoire of original torchy jazz, blues, musical theater and R&B songs. An actress as much as a musician, Elk really makes you believe in the passion, pathos and lacerating humor she projects as Miss Alexandra.

She’s finally captured some of that on record, a CD called LIVE at Survival Kit, she’ll be sharing with her fans at a concert at the Bop Stop. She’ll be joined by her band The Gentlemen’s Intermission: pianist Theron Brown, bassist Dan Pappalardo and drummer Neil Chastain.

Tickets are $10.
